Kean Jin was formerly a Partner in Raja Darryl & Loh. His areas of practice are in fund/asset management and unit trust. He was nominated twice in 2011 and 2012 as one of the leading lawyers by the Islamic Finance News publication for the category of "Asset & Fund Management".

In late 2013, Kean Jin ventured out from the legal fraternity to join as Group General Manager in his family-owned company that specializes in comprehensive fire protection systems.

​

Between 2014 – 2017, he was appointed as an independent director of TMF Trustees Malaysia Berhad.

​

In late 2018, Kean Jin entered the fintech industry where he co-founded FinHero, a financial technology company and has also garnered vast experience in consulting Recognised Market Operators (peer-to-peer lending) and Digital Investment Management Companies regulated by the Securities Commission Malaysia.

 

Kean Jin also has first-hand experience in managing compliance matters for fund management companies, specifically, Digital Investment Management companies. He was a Compliance Officer registered with the Securities Commission Malaysia for Akru Now Sdn Bhd where he acted as the Head of Compliance of the said entity.

  • Advised clients on mergers of unit trust and fund management companies and also on the setting up of unit trust and fund management companies. He had been involved in the setting up of many novel unit trust funds during that period, such as structured product funds, feeder-funds, funds-of-funds, Shahriah-compliant funds and capital protected funds. He had acted for at least 80% of the unit trust management companies in Malaysia during that period in various capacities.

  • Co-founded this 2-year-old company that was being awarded a grant by Invest Penang through the Penang i4.0 Seed Fund. The Fund was set up to nurture a vibrant tech start-up ecosystem that will enable and grow viable start-ups towards realising and commercialising their ideas and solutions.

MALAYSIAN FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (“MFPA”):

  • Co-organised the International Fire Conference and Exhibition Malaysia during 2018 and 2021;

  • Negotiated accreditation of programs co-organised by the MFPA with a local university;

  • Held dialogues and co-organised events with the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department.
